Westview is excited to welcome Lainey Hulsizer as the new varsity girl's soccer coach. Lainey is returning to Westview where she was a three-year varsity player as a goalkeeper and who helped lead the team to our only championship game appearance in 2008. After high school she attended Portland State University where she continued her soccer career. For the past four years she has been the varsity head coach at Lincoln High School where she led the team to the state semi-final this year and a combined record of 47-14-3.
She believes that sports provide players and coaches with the opportunity to build and master social, physical, and emotional skills that are needed to find success in life. That is why it is important to her that coaches not only focus on developing athletes, but also focus on developing the person as a whole. This can range from supporting your athletes in academics, with personal problems, or finding a new passion when there are no longer sports. Being able to balance the competitive demands of athletics with player growth is a delicate balance only learned with time and experience.
