Cross Country


Graduated from University of California at Santa Cruz. Earned a Masters degree from Portland State University. Member of the USA National Cycling A Team for five years. Competed in five World Cycling Championships in Europe representing the USA. Placed 4th in USA Olympic Trials in Road Cycling in 1984. Two-time National Champion Women’s Road Cyclist. Have coached cross country and distance track runners for 17 plus years, the past 10 years at Westview High School. Under the direction of the coaching staff in that time period, Westview has had 3 teams and 6 individuals qualify for State XC Championships. In Track & Field, Westview athletes have secured numerous individual and relay team Metro League titles and the Boys’ team has placed 2nd three times. State Track & Field Championship titles include in Boys’ 4x400, 4x100, 800m and Girls’ Long Jump, 100m and 200m. Rebecca teaches AP Environmental Science and Biology at Westview.

This will be Janelle Brandt's 8th year as a Varsity head coach and her 3rd season at Westview. Coach Brandt has been coaching volleyball for the past 16 years at every level of high school as well as the 12U, 14U, and 16U club level. Coach Brandt is the Director and Head Coach of the Wildcats Volleyball Club and has run a youth feeder club program for the past 7 years. Prior to coaching at Westview Coach Brandt was the head coach at Aloha High School. She started her coaching career at Crescent Valley High School in Corvallis. Coach Brandt has also coached Track & Field for 4 years previously at Westview.

Coach Brandt was a three-sport Varsity athlete in high school. She played two years of volleyball at Linn-Benton Community College as a Defensive Specialist/Libero before transferring to OSU to finish out her collegiate career. Coach Brandt graduated from Oregon State University with her Bachelor's degree in Exercise & Sport Science. She earned her Master's degree in Special Education from Portland State University. Coach Brandt is a Special Education Resource teacher at Westview.

In her free time Coach Brandt enjoys working out, hiking, playing sand volleyball, going to the beach, reading and running. Over this past year she has competed in 10 races ranging from 5K, 10K, and a half-marathon.
