Westview High School 2025 Scholarship Application

This form will allow you to submit an application(s) to any/all of the following scholarships. Please read through the descriptions below to determine which ones you are eligible for. Please note: you must complete the application in one sitting. Utilize our Resource Document to plan your responses before beginning the application

Reser Family Foundation Scholarship

$5,000 renewable for 4 years for a total of $20,000

Requirements:

  • Westview High School Senior
  • Accepted to an accredited 4 year College/University that offers a baccalaureate degree
  • 2 Letters of Recommendations (No relatives, please)
  • Transcript

*All applications will be considered, however, first consideration given to a student who meets the following criterion:

  • First generation college student preferred
  • GPA of 3.0 or greater
  • Involvement in athletics, leadership and/or the community
  • Plans to pursue a bachelor degree

Marcques Nettles Memorial "Westview's Finest" Scholarship

$1,500 awarded to two students

"Westview's Finest" Scholarship is in recognition of 2002 WHS graduate, Marcques Nettles, who tragically lost his life while serving his country as a Naval Corpsman in Iraq in 2006. Marcques was a unique personality during his time here. Most notable was his true sense of embracing all people regardless of their circumstance. He possessed an unconditional love toward all.

This scholarship is meant to reward and assist those who share this attitude toward life. It is less concerned with academic achievement or recognition, but by the way one treats others and contributes to the overall experience of attending Westview.

Westview Memorial Scholarship

$1000 awarded to one student OR $500 awarded to two students

Students applying for this scholarship must meet the following criteria:

  • Senior at Westview High School
  • No GPA requirement, however students must demonstrate academic success especially during their junior and senior years
  • Student must be attending post high school education (trade program , community college, 4 year university) – documentation will be required to show post high school education if given the scholarship

Susie A. Laughlin Scholarship

Up to four awards $500 - $4,000

The scholarship will be awarded based on the following criteria.

  • Minimum cumulative weighted GPA of a 3.3 
  • Contributions to Westview HS and potential for future contributions to society
  • Outstanding talent
  • Financial need

Dr. Brian Truong Scholarship for Promising Pre-Health Students

$1,000 awarded to one student

The scholarship will be awarded based on the following criteria:

  • Graduating Senior with interest in healthcare 
  • US Citizen or Permanent Resident 
  • Demonstrated economic need
  • Demonstrated ability to overcome hardship 
  • Academic rigor demonstrated with unweighted 3.25 or higher GPA
  • Involvement in extra curricular activities, leadership, community service

Evolve Physical Therapy "Active For Life"

$1,000 awarded to one student

Criteria for the Evolve Physical Therapy "Active For Life" Scholarship

  • GPA ≥3.0
  • A senior accepted and enrolled at a two or four-year university
  • Students with four years of participation in a sport, preference given to track & field program.
  • A coach's recommendation 
  • Short Essay
  • Needs-based
  • Demonstrates commitment and consistency to participation in athletics without sacrificing academic goals.

  • The Reser Scholarship requires TWO letters of recommendation to be considered for the scholarship.
  • The Evolve Scholarship requires a letter of recommendation from a COACH to be considered for the scholarship.

The Westview Memorial Scholarship serves as a heartfelt tribute to honor our late staff members. This scholarship aims to commemorate their contribution and continue the positive impacts they made on the Westview community. 

The Westview Memorial Scholarship is for high school seniors who are committed to pursuing higher education (including community college or a trade program). This scholarship places a strong emphasis on academic success, particularly in the 11th and 12th grades, recognizing the dedication and hard work of aspiring students. In addition to scholastic achievements, applicants should demonstrate their commitment to being positive contributors to their communities, showcasing qualities that make them stand out as good individuals. Furthermore, the Westview Memorial Scholarship values determination and perseverance. Applicants will be recognized for demonstration of the ability to face and overcome challenges.

Susie A. Laughlin Scholarship

Up to four awards $500 - $4,000

Claude Raymond  Laughlin 1918-1981, affectionately known as "Ray.”
 
This scholarship was set up in memory of Claude Laughlin's mother, Susie Alice Laughlin, a housewife who died in 1980. Ray lived in Aloha and was always interested in schools including Aloha-Huber Park Grades 1-8. He served as a Beaverton School District  Board member. Ray started and owned Suburban Lumber Co. in 1951.

The mission of the Brian Truong Scholarship of Excellence for Pre-Health Students is to recognize distinguished Westview High School (WHS) seniors from a disadvantaged background who have achieved success in academics and extracurricular activities while providing meaningful service to their community. These students must have some interest in entering a healthcare career such as medicine, nursing, dentistry, etc. Having dealt with personal adversity, Brian Truong, MD, understands the unique challenges facing some high school students. Dr. Truong graduated from WHS in 2003 and is currently a Physician Anesthesiologist in Portland, Oregon.
